Pumpkin Pie and Dreams Fulfilled

Pumpkin Pie and Dreams Fulfilled

Psalm 34:8 states: “O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” (New American Standard Bible)

All across America, people are looking forward to one of our most treasured holidays, Thanksgiving. It is a time when families and friends gather together, share a delicious meal with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, a myriad of casserole dishes and the traditional pumpkin pie with whipped cream (of course!). Americans know how to party!

It was first established in 1621 when 53 Pilgrims and 90 Native Americans came together in unity to celebrate their first harvest. They rejoiced and gave thanks to God for all the blessings they received.

I’m particularly thankful this year, as I experienced a childhood dream fulfilled. As a young girl at youth camp, I would spend my evenings on top a hill between two large lakes. The stars were vivid and displayed the massive beauty of God’s creation. It was there that I saw an open vision of my travels abroad to distant countries. I saw a white beach with blue-green waves washing the shoreline. I saw beautiful faces of people from another land.

This dream was fulfilled just a few weeks ago when I traveled to Tanzania with my pastors and a dear friend. We were teaching there at a minister’s conference and a special women’s conference. We witnessed salvations, baptisms in the Holy Spirit, healings and many breakthroughs; both physically and emotionally. People were set free!

When our host took us to a nearby beach, my mind was flooded with the vision from my youth. Our God is faithful! Psalms 37:4 states: “Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” God places His desires in our hearts and watches over them to fulfill them. All we need to do is believe.

Such was the case of Alicia. While in Barbados, a beautiful young woman poured out her heart to me regarding a Word from God given to her when she was a young girl. She saw herself having a career in government and diplomacy. She completed half of her college education but received ridicule from family and church community for her career choice. They tried to persuade her that her choice was worldly and not from God.

While we continued to talk, I saw a picture of Queen Esther and how she was God’s appointed and mighty influence for freedom to His people.

Esther 7: 1-2:
So the king and Haman went to dine with Queen Esther. And on the second day, at the banquet of wine, the king again said to Esther, “What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your request, up to half the kingdom? It shall be done!”

I saw Alicia going before heads of state and several national leaders with the same kind of influence Queen Esther had. After the prophetic picture was shared, she cried and stated that it was the first positive word of reassurance she heard for several years. She was encouraged and re-ignited to follow God’s vision for her life.

What dream or vision has God placed in your heart? We serve a God of purpose. He’s chosen a unique journey for each one of us. Let’s rejoice and be thankful for what God has already done for us, and for the dreams, visions and purposes of God to be fulfilled in us and through us!
